Kilbeggan Shamrocks GAA Notes

JFC v C/F/C/W

We cemented our JFC semi-final place with a round to spare thanks to a 3-9 to 0-11 victory over Castletown-Finea/Coole/Whitehall in Bunbrosna last Friday evening.

Following their heavy defeat to us in TEG Cusack Park a couple of weeks earlier, C/F/C/W were keen to make amends and they came flying out of the starting blocks to lead by 0-5 to 0-0 before a James Finnegan goal sparked us into life. Finnegan and David Fennell raised further green flags to help us to a 3-4 to 0-8 interval lead.

We extended our advantage to 3-9 to 0-8 in the second half before a late rally by the 2016 champions left seven points between the sides at the end. Our final group match against St. Joseph's is expected to take place on the weekend after next.

Summer Camp a great success

Despite some unfavourable weather, our Summer Camp last Thursday and Friday proved to be a resounding success. The Camp was open to Kilbeggan primary school boys and girls between the ages of four and 13, all of whom had a great time and received training tops in recognition of their participation. Westmeath GAA Games Development Manager Noel Delaney also stopped off to present the club with the training equipment and footballs we recently won in a Leinster GAA / Beko competition.

Thanks to those who helped out in any way and to the parents and children who attended our BBQ and Fun Day on Saturday.

Meanwhile, our U8s will get a runout in TEG Cusack Park this Tuesday, August 21, when they take part in the latest Go Games blitz at 6pm.
