Division 3A Champions

Our Junior squad garnered our first piece of silverware since 2012 when we defeated Turin by two points after a close, tough game. There was never more than two or three points separating the teams for much of the game, apart from a spell during the second half where we went five points clear after an unanswered 1-5 put some daylight between the teams. However, Turin finished strong to ensure a nervy end to the game and the four minutes of injury time. The first half was a cagey affair as the game failed to ignite. The accuracy of Turins Ray Aughey from frees cancelled out Conor Savage's goal while there were also some good points from play from both sides. Turin led at the break by a single point and stretched it out to three points at the start of the second half. However, the lads stuck to their guns and a couple of points steadied the ship. Richie Crowley then pounced for our second goal and three more points put some daylight between us. But, a combination of good Turin play and needless fouling brought Turin to within two points as the game entered injury time. Indeed, they could've snatched the game at the death as a rasping shot flashed across our square and out wide. We held firm for the remainder of the added time and afterwards a proud Richie Crowley lifted the cup on behalf of his team-mates, hopefully not the only time we'll be up the steps of Cusack Park. Final score, Crookedwood 2-10 Turin 0-14. Well done to all involved. Team; A.Mitchell, T.Brennan, K.Orme, G.McGovern, C.Yourell, A.Savage (0-2), E.Murray (0-1), Andy Boyhan (0-1) , N.Kiernan, B.McCarthy (0-3), S.Savage, R.Crowley (1-1), C.Savage (1-0), G.Brennan (0-2), C.Gilbert. Intermediate Championship Result

Crookedwood 1-13 Raharney 0-10.  After a sluggish start and more, we ground out a good win over a tough Raharney team. The first half was a forgettable affair as both teams struggled for scores, and we hit several poor wides. The second half began with both teams tied at five points apiece, and it wasn't until a scrambled Conor Savage goal that we pulled clear and took control of the game to finish six-point winners and make it two out of two in the championship. As its still early days, we have loads of time to improve and there is plenty of room for improvement. Team, A.Mitchell, T.Brennan, K.Orme, D.Grifferty, G.McGovern, A.Savage, S.Savage, S.McGovern, A.Boyhan, B.McCarthy , G.Brennan (0-1), N.Yourell (0-2), C.Savage (1-0), B.McLoughlin (0-2), B.O'Mara (0-8) Subs; N.Bardon for N.Kiernan (injured), D.Hyland for T.Brennan, E.Murray for G.Brennan
