The choice of Portlaoise as the venue for the O'Byrne Cup final has not been well received in both of the competing counties.

Leinster Council have reiterated their desire for the final to go ahead at O'Moore Park citing that TG4 are in a position to offer live television coverage.

Pairc Tailteann is unavailable on Sunday as it hosts an All-Ireland JHC semi-final but both Meath and Westmeath county boards have been in discussion and agreed that they are willing to play the game in Cusack Park, Mullingar at 2pm on Sunday.

Respective managers Andy McEntee and Colin Kelly have also been in contact, with both agreeable that the match goes ahead in Mullingar.

Additionally, the two counties have expressed their concern to Leinster Council about the ability of Portlaoise to host a double header on Sunday given the adverse weather forecast this week.
