Leinster Scór na nÓg Final

A large contingent of supporters made the long journey to the Wexford Opera House on Sunday to cheer on our two club representatives, Jemma Seery and Shane King, who were contesting the finals of the solo-singing and recitation respectively. Both performed excellently on the day and were in with a great chance of collecting the provincial crown. Unfortunately when the results were announced, it was Wexford and Longford who got the nod for the All Ireland Finals. The club is very proud of both Jemma and Shane who have shown capabilities and composure well beyond their years. They will benefit from this experience and will be back in finals again without doubt. We send our congratulations to The Downs who won the Leinster title in both Leiriu and Set Dancing on the evening. The club is very proud of all our young competitors in this years Scór competition. We made great progress and had greater participation with acts in Ballad Group and Instrumental Music. Hopefully we can continue to build on this with all the young talent available. We want to thank all who helped out with preparations for this years competitions but we reserve a special word of thanks for our long time Scór protagonist, Shane Heraty, who continues to put in trojan work in promoting Scór and preparing our young stars!

Scór Table Quiz

On Friday evening, we had two teams competing in the Scór Table Quiz in Streamstown. Ballinagore GAA was represented by Erin Heeney, Mary Reynolds, Peter Reynolds & Darragh Seery while our Rounders club was represented by Philip Reynolds, Niall Claffey, Cathal Kelly and Jemma Seery. After a great contest with ten other teams, Ballinagore GAA won the county title, over-turning a five point half time deficit to win by two points. Erin, Mary, Peter and Darragh are now through to the All Ireland Final in Sligo on February 17th and we wish them the very best of luck.

Townland League

Our 8th Annual Townland League takes place this Sunday, 21st January. Junior Games start at 12 noon and the Senior games start at 2pm. There will be refreshments throughout the day. This tournament has been a great way to start off our year since 2011. One of the main organisers of the league was our dear friend Eoin Miller. It was Eoin's idea to involve all of the pupils in Ballinagore NS in a project to create a collage of the townlands and landmarks around Ballinagore which helped develop the kids association with their village and their club to this day. Let us all come out on the 21st of January to support the day, remember Eoin and celebrate community and club!
