Kilbeggan Shamrocks holds reunion for 1992 junior champions

December 10, 2017

Reunion

Despite the inclement weather, there was a great turnout for the reunion for our 1992 junior champions last Saturday night in Larrigy's.

It was wonderful to see so many of the players who claimed a treble of junior championship, junior league and Junior Cup honours back together again after 25 years. The team defeated neighbours Ballinagore in the JFC final in Tyrrellspass (Cusack Park was closed for redevelopment works at the time) before adding the JFL and Junior Cup at Milltown's expense.

Well done to Dermot Smith, who captained the '92 team, and Alan McCormack for organising the reunion.

For the record, the all-conquering 1992 panel was as follows: Dermot Smith (captain), Padraig Smith, Mickey Kelly, Teddy McCormack, John Daly, Alan McCormack, Paul McCormack, Ray Scally, Richie Keoghan, Willie Daniels, Keith Gorry, Randal Scally, Seamus Finnegan, Jim Daly, Johnny Deegan, Tommy Rattigan, John Timoney, Martin Maher, Moss Keenan, James Mullins, Martin Nannery, Martin O'Rourke, Aidan Reid, Locky Guilfoyle, Declan Rogers, Larry Claffey, Benji McDonnell, Cathal McDaniel, Padraig Fox and Paul Daly.

The management team was: Matt Geraghty, Mick Fox (RIP) and Ger Carton.

Our AGM will take place in Scoil an Chlochair next Sunday, December 17 at 7pm. All club members are requested to attend as we review the year and look ahead to 2018.
