Donnellan returns to Castledaly

Manager John Donnellan

Former Galway footballer John Donnellan has been reappointed as manager of Castledaly who he guided to the 2015 county SFC final.

On that occasion, they came up against a strong St Loman's side who have gone on to win three consecutive titles and are preparing for Sunday's Leinster club SFC final.

Donnellan takes over from Padraig Farrell who was also in his second spell with the club; his first saw Castledaly capture their one and only SFC title in 2008.

And the new manager told the Westmeath Independent that he is delighted to return to the club and added that he is confident they can push on from this year.

"I'm delighted to be back with Castledaly, they have a great attitude and I've no doubt they will give it 100% next season," stated Donnellan.

"When I was with them in 2015, we gave it a good crack, but unfortunately we fell short in the county final against St Loman's. Since then the younger lads have come through the Castledaly ranks and have matured, and I'm looking forward to working with them."
