Mullinalaghta manager Mickey Graham admits that mistakes cost them a place in the Leinster club SFC semi-final.

The Longford champions looked well on their way to claiming a place in the provincial championship last four when holding a commanding lead against St Loman's at Pearse Park last Sunday.

However, the Westmeath champions were allowed back into the game and they took full advantage to sneak home by the narrowest of margins.

Graham stressed to the Longford Leader that it was a game that they should have won, but added that it had been another remarkable year for the club.

"Football is cruel. When you make mistakes at this level you are going to get punished. We were punished for a couple of mistakes we made; I think they got a goal and a couple of points from us giving the ball away. That's the reality of it," said Graham.

"I cannot ask anymore of those lads; they left everything on the field. I'm so proud of them and even when things went bad they never threw in the towel and came back looking for that equalising score.

"Over the 60 minutes plus I did not think we were the second best team to be honest. I thought a draw would have been a fair result."

Mullinalaghta's year is not over yet as they have the no small matter of the Leader Cup final on this Sunday where they face their rivals Longford Slashers.
