St. Patricks National School, Ballinagore  - Girls Team
On Thursday last we played our final group game against Taughmon.  Conditions were good for a sporting game.   The first half was a close contest.   In the second half the local side pulled away a win.  It was a good year for the girls winning two and losing two games narrowly.  Well done to all.

Well done to St. Patrick's National School boys' team who beat Presentation Snr boys in Ballinagore on a scoreline of 9-5 to 2-9. A fantastic result which saw them finish 2nd in the group, ensuring qualification for the 3-way playoff for the last place in the semi-finals. Well done lads!

Rounders Review of the Year Part 2
Thankfully there wasn't much time to dwell on the Breaffy experience before we were on the road again - this time to Tymon Park in Dublin where we took on the reigning All Ireland champions, Limekiln. You may expect a familiar report here but this was a much improved performance from Ballinagore. Having held the champions to just four runs in the first two innings, the score at the bottom of the third was Limekiln 4, Ballinagore 2 - Ballinagore securing two excellent runs from Brian Killian and Tally Flynn. Some unfortunate errors by Ballinagore while fielding the third innings saw Limekiln gain six runs and they went on to dominate the remaining play, outscoring Ballinagore by thirteen runs to four to win on a scoreline of Limekiln 17, Ballinagore 6. Team: Declan Claffey (Pitcher), Edward Elliffe (Catcher), Dympna Claffey (1st Base, 1 Run), Colette Claffey, (2nd Base, 2 Runs), Aisling Heraty (3rd Base), Tally Flynn (Short Stop, 1 Run), Brian Killian (Left Outfield, 1 Run), David Langan Capt.(Centre Outfield), Shane Heraty (Right Outfield, 1 Run).
Buoyed by a good performance against Limekiln we were at home to Cúchulainn, Carlow in round seven of the championship. This was a rip roaring contest and by far our best in 2017. Ballinagore batted first and led 9-5 at the bottom of the first. The gap was narrowed to 11-9 after the second before Cúchulainn scored a blistering ten runs in the third while Ballinagore failed to register a single score. Cúchulainn now led 19-11 and Ballinagore had it all to do. In the fourth innings Ballinagore scored nine runs to Cúchulainn's two to reduce the deficit to one run. Being first to bat in the fifth Ballinagore only managed two runs leaving Cúchulainn with the task of needing three runs to secure the win. The visitors responded to the challenge and scored the required runs to win a well earned victory on a scoreline of Cúchulainn 23, Ballinagore 22. Team: Declan Claffey (Pitcher, 4 Runs), Aoife Deegan (Catcher, 1 Run), Francis Fox (1st Base, 1 Run), Aisling Heraty (2nd Base, 2 Runs), Dympna Claffey (3rd Base), Martin Furey (Short Stop, 2 Runs), Enda Claffey (Left Outfield, 4 Runs), David Langan Capt.(Centre Outfield, 3 Runs), Tally Flynn (Right Outfield, 4 Runs). Sub: Shane Heraty (1 Run).
Our final game in this years championship was against Na Fianna in Dublin on July 25th. This was a game which we had earmarked to win from the start of the year. However, on the day we didn't perform as well as we had in the previous two fixtures and Na Fianna were deserving winners by 15 runs to 8. Team: Declan Claffey (Pitcher, 1 Run), Aoife Deegan (Catcher, 1 Run), Paul Roche (1st base), Dympna Claffey (2nd Base, 1 Run), Aisling Heraty (3rd Base), Martin Furey (Short Stop, 1 Run), Kevin Glennon (Left Outfield, 1 Run), Tally Flynn (Centre Outfield, 2 Runs), Shane Heraty (Right Outfield, 1 Run).
