Waterford forward Shane Bennett had a busy afternoon.

Bennett gave a man of the match display for the Deise in their Munster under-21 hurling championship win over Cork at Pairc Ui Rinn this evening.

However, the Ballysaggart clubman had to make a mad dash to the Cork venue as he only finished his leaving cert at 5pm!

The rush to the game did not affect his performance as he finished the game with a personal tally of 1-04 with all his scores coming from play.

"I finished my leaving cert at 5pm and my mother brought me straight to the game from there," said the affable youngster to TG4. "We played well in the second half, but it took us a while to settle down, but thankfully we are through to the semi-final now."

Bennett is also a member of the Waterford senior squad who are looking forward to a Munster final against either Limerick or Tipperary in a few weeks' time.
