Waterford manager Derek McGrath has played down talk of Austin Gleeson being switched to centre forward for the Munster SHC against Cork.

Speculation is growing as to who will replace the injured Padraic Mahony at centre forward and many feel that Gleeson is the obvious choice.

However, his performances at centre back have been nothing short of excellent and McGrath stressed to the Waterford News & Star that the Mount Sion youngster was staying put.

"The talk seems to be Darragh Fives to five and Austin to eleven. No, I don't see that happening," said McGrath.

"Austin and Padraic are very different players. Austin is a more evasive type player in terms of raw speed from the centre forward area."

He added: "Maybe down the line I would envisage a lot of people talking about it in the run up to it that they should do this with Austin.

"I think they need to sit back and watch how Austin is playing within that half back line. We are happy enough with him. At the minute, I don't envisage a change there."
