Waterford manager Derek McGrath admits that he needs a break after the excitement of the league campaign.

McGrath led Waterford to their third ever NHL title last Sunday when they defeated Cork in impressive style.

The furore surrounding the victory has been massive, particularly as the sides meet in the Munster SHC in just over two weeks' time.

And McGrath revealed to the Waterford News & Star that some down time was in order after a hectic schedule.

"I will get my head out of the media for a while," said McGrath. "I'm getting a reputation for seeking media among my own family who know what I'm really like and it's the complete opposite to what I'm really like.

"A nice feeling of being able to watch club matches and hoping fellas get through injury free. My wife got a voucher for Fota so I might just take a tip down there and chill out!"
