Waterford manager Derek McGrath believes that his charges are improving with each game.

The Decies secured their status in the top flight of the NHL following a six-point win over Wexford last weekend.

McGrath stressed to the Waterford News & Star that the aim at this stage of the year was to improve every time they go out on the field and he feels that they are achieving that goal.

"We are just concentrating on getting better with every performance and I think we done that," said McGrath. "When the league draw was made I think that lead most people of reasonable opinion to suggest that we were third in the pecking order.

"We didn't use that as a motivation, we just decided as a group to work as hard as we could. We came out against Wexford and we implemented a particular structure and game plan and it worked.

"That's a good day for everyone. 1A is very unforgiving. Four points got us relegated last year. Four points put someone into a quarterfinal this year and that's the way it's going ot be next year."
