Seamus Prendergast has ended his 14-year intercounty career with Waterford hurlers.

The Ardmore clubman made his senior debut in 2001 and the news of his retirement was broken in the Waterford News & Star.

A four time Munster winner and holder of a national league title, Prendergast lined out at centre forward in the 2008 All-Ireland final defeat to Kilkenny.

The 34-year-old's final game for the Deise was the qualifier loss to Wexford in July at Nowlan Park when he came on as a substitute.
