Newly appointed Westmeath hurling manager Michael Ryan says he holds no grudges over the circumstances of his departure in his native Waterford.

Ryan's term as Deise manager came to an end in late 2013 when player power forced him to walk away from his post but he insists that he has no sour feelings over the situation, which he now considers to be in the past.

"My attitude is that I had two years in Waterford and I really enjoyed it - I enjoyed every single minute of it," Ryan told the Irish Sun newspaper.

"I am very proud of some of the results we got in our last 12 months and I felt then we were in a very good place.

"You just move on, these things happen in life and there is no point moaning about it or complaining about it. You just move on.

"I am a proud Waterford man. I was originally a supporter of Waterford, then I became the manager. Now I'm a supporter again. Sometimes these things can come full circle.
