Ex-Kerry trainer Pat Flanagan is the latest name to be linked to the Waterford senior football manager's job.

Only last week, the Waterford County Board blasted football clubs in the county for showing a lack of interest in finding a new manager to replace Niall Carew as only one nomination was received.

However, county board chairman Tom Cunningham revealed to the Waterford News & Star that they will be interviewing 'four or five' candidates for the position.

And the former Kerry trainer is believed to be amongst those. Flanagan was strength and conditioning coach during Jack O'Connor's time in charge.

The Waterford native also worked with Michael Ryan during his spell as county senior hurling manager, while he also has worked with the Laois hurlers and Tipperary under-21 footballers in recent times.
