Mount Sion and Ballygunner powered into the semi-finals of the Waterford SHC with big wins over Abbeyside and Lismore respectively at Walsh Park yesterday.

Martin O'Neill shot 0-12 as Mount Sion saw off Abbeyside on a 1-21 to 0-15 scoreline. O'Neill was also involved in the build-up to the only goal which was scored by Richie Roche in the opening minutes.

In the other quarter-final, Stephen Power, JJ Hutchinson and Harley Barnes all raised green flags as 14-man Ballygunner defeated Lismore by 3-20 to 2-12. Despite having substitute Paul Coughlan sent off for an off-the-ball incident, the city side posted 2-14 in an impressive second half display.

The two semi-finals are slated for next weekend with Mount Sion taking on De La Salle at Walsh Park on Saturday evening and Ballygunner facing Dungarvan in Fraher Field on Sunday evening.
