Passage were dethroned as Waterford senior hurling champions by Dungarvan last night.
2012 runners-up Dungarvan won the quarter-final by 4-10 to 2-14, with first half goals from Patrick Curran, Ryan Donnelly and Cathal Curran laying the foundations for their success. The west Waterford men led by 3-5 to 1-6 at the interval and extended their advantage to 4-10 to 1-11 when Gavin Crotty raised their fourth green flag in the final quarter.
Thomas Connors scored his second goal for Passage late on, but it wasn't enough to save the champions.
Meanwhile, former county and provincial kingpins De La Salle survived a scare from Tallow in Friday night's quarter-final at Fraher Field as John Keane's second half goal proved decisive in a 1-16 to 2-9 victory.
Paul O'Brien's goal gave Tallow the early initiative, but the city side recovered to lead by 0-10 to 1-6 at half-time. Keane netted in the 38th minute to open up a six-point lead, but De La Salle were left hanging on after Thomas Ryan bagged the underdogs' second major seven minutes from time.
Walsh Park hosts the remaining two quarter-finals - Abbeyside v Mount Sion and Lismore v Ballygunner - next Sunday.
