Deise ban senior hurling training

April 17, 2014

Waterford manager Derek McGrath
Waterford officials have slapped a training ban on Derek McGrath and the Deise senior hurlers.

The Irish Examiner reports that the board took the decision on Monday night to cancel all senior inter-county hurling training until after the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The ban is designed to shine a spotlight on the club championships and means that McGrath and his backroom team won't be able to call training until Tuesday, May 6.

That will leave them with 19 days to prepare for their Munster SHC quarter-final against Cork in Thurles.

The Rebel County, on the other hand, will enjoy a six week build-up free of club activity.

McGrath refused to comment on the development when contacted by the Irish Examiner.
