Bennett, John

Sincere sympathy is also extended to that great Ballysaggart GAA family, the Bennetts on the death last week of John Bennett just days after he celebrated his 87th birthday.

John was the very heart and soul of his home village and of course the whole family was a living part of the GAA club. One of his sons, Pat served as a Waterford senior hurling selector with Davy Fitzgerald, while his grandson Stephen (Pat's) son is regarded as one of the most exciting hurling prospects the county has thrown up in a long while.

To John's wife Joan, his sons James, Pat, Sean, and Michael, his daughter Mary, and all the other members of the extended Bennett family the column and columnist extend deepest sympathy.
