The late Johnny O'Connor RIP

A man who mastered in two different sports passed away at his home in Ballysheehan on Sunday, October 31.
Johnny O'Connor won an All Ireland Senior Hurling medal with Waterford when the Deise won the 1948 final. He was also a household name in Greyhound Racing. In 1972 and 1973 his dog Patricia's hope won the English Derby.

Johnny came to Killavullen from his native Waterford and was a teacher in the village for many years. His Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Mary's Church in Mallow on Tuesday, November 2 and his burial to place in Dungarvan afterwards.

He is survived by his wife Nancy and son John and daughters Regina, Yvonne and Evelyn, sister Alice Marie, relations and friends. To the O'Connor family we extend our deepest sympathies.
