The closure of GAA pitches and walking tracks this week, while completely understandable, has highlighted how important the facilities are to communities.

While GAA activities, including games, training and gyms were all closed on March 12, walking tracks around many pitches and access to grounds for a run, were still available in many clubs.

This week Croke Park instructed all clubs to fully close their grounds with gates locked around the country.

The loss of the facilities have been a blow to many at this challenging time.

However, we must all do out part in this current emergency and follow HSE and GAA guidelines fully.
