Injury concerns for Ballygunner

Ballygunner's Pauric Mahony drives forward against Sixmilebridge

Ballygunner’s win over Sixmilebridge in the Munster club SHC has been dampened somewhat by injuries to two key players.

Both Peter Hogan and Pauric Mahony are in a race against time to prove their fitness ahead of the provincial semi-final against Limerick’s Patrickswell on Sunday.

Hamstring injuries to both players leaves them doubtful for the clash and their manager Darragh O’Sullivan admitted to the Waterford News & Star that he is concerned.

“Peter is in trouble for next week obviously. We have a fabulous medical team with us and we’ll do everything we can to see where we can get him,” said O’Sullivan.

“Peter has that problem with his hamstrings and that goes against him. We’ll see what happens; we’ll see if we can patch him up and get him out on Sunday.”

He added: “Again, it’s a hamstring (Mahony), it’s obviously going to be a challenge as well. Look, I don’t think he pulled it. We’ll do a bit of recovery now. We’ll try to get the best treatment we can for him and see where we can get him.”
