Dan the Man begins 27th season

June 26, 2019

Lismore brothers Maurice and Dan Shanahan celebrate with the Waterford IHC silverware.

Former Waterford hurler Dan Shanahan came on for Lismore in the county SHC, which is his 27th campaign in a row.

Shanahan was introduced as a late substitute as Lismore defeated Ballyduff Upper by 1-21 to 0-15 with his brother Maurice playing a starring role in the win.

The older sibling who was 42 last January has been lining out for his club at adult level since he was 15 years old.

The three-time All-Star had a glittering career with Waterford that spanned from 1995 to 2010 and has been a selector with the county in the past.

However, that has not stopped him from lining out consistently for the club and who knows maybe he will add to the sole county title that he won in 1993.
