Waterford legend Michael ‘Brick’ Walsh is set to embark on a 17th season with the Deise County.

The Irish Examiner reports today that the 35-year-old is back training with his native county and that manager Padraic Fanning has confirmed that he will be part of the squad for 2019.

Walsh made his senior inter-county hurling debut back in 2003 and has gone on to make 74 consecutive appearances for his native county.

There had been speculation that the Stradbally man could retire at the end of last season, but Deise fans will no doubt be delighted to hear of his commitment for another year.

New manager Fanning has also confirmed that Shane Bennett (Ballysaggart) will be available for selection for the coming campaign after having missed out this past season.
