November 07, 2018

The Harty Cup (Munster Post Primary Schools Senior 'A' Hurling Championship).

It was a good day for Tipperary teams in the Harty Cup as Nenagh CBS, Our Ladys, Templemore and Thurles CBS all claimed second round victories.

The biggest result of the afternoon was in Group A where Nenagh CBS stunned holders Ardscoil Rís, 2-23 to 3-12, in a must-win game for the north Tipp outfit after their opening day loss to Coláiste Cholmáin, Fermoy.

Kiladangan's Bryan McLoughney registered 1-13 for the winners at Newport before receiving a straight red card which means he will miss next Thursday's crucial tie with Gaelcholáiste Mhuire An Mhainistir Thuaid.

At Littleton, in Group C, Our Ladys, Templemore were looking to make amends for their first round defeat to John the Baptist, Hospital and they duly obliged by beating Blackwater CS, Lismore by 2-20 to 2-8.

After receiving a bye in the first round, Thurles CBS opened their Group D account with an impressive 2-22 to 0-6 success over Castletroy College, Limerick in Nenagh.

Meanwhile, Group B table-toppers De La Salle College are the first side through to the quarter-finals after their draw with Midleton CBS. It finished, De La Salle College 2-10, Midleton CBS 1-13, at Bushy Park.
