Munster club SFC: The Nire breeze past Adare

November 04, 2018

Adare's Oran Collins and Conor Gleeson of The Nire during the Munster club SFC quarter-final at Limerick's Gaelic Grounds

The Nire (Waterford) 1-18

Adare (Limerick) 0-12

The Nire were much too good for Adare at the Gaelic Grounds as they set up a Munster club SFC semi-final meeting with St Joseph's, Miltown-Malbay next Sunday.

With Shane Walsh, Conor Gleeson, Diarmuid Murphy, Thomas O’Gorman and Tholom Guiry to the fore, the Waterford champions were always in control. Tom Barron's goal on the stroke of half-time sent them into the break with a nine-point lead, and the result was never in doubt thereafter.

Adare narrowed the gap through points from Hugh Bourke after the restart, but their comeback hopes were ended when Aodhan O'Sullivan received a second yellow card at the end of the third quarter.

Shane Walsh, Jamie Barron and Tholom Guiry add further scores as The Nire eased to victory.
