Ballygunner joint-captain Shane O’Sullivan is adamant that complacency will not be an issue in Sunday’s county SHC final.

Heading into the decider as overwhelming favourites to win their fifth consecutive title, Ballygunner could be somewhat forgiven for feeling very confident ahead of the clash against an Abbeyside team that are looking to win the title for the first time ever.

However, O’Sullivan, who is seeking his sixth county title, rubbished such suggestions and stressed to the Waterford News & Star that they will give their opponents the respect they deserve.

“The experience is there over the last few years so the team on the day of a match can adjust to whatever is thrown at them, so far. We try our best to fix things on the field,” said O’Sullivan.

“We’re empowered to do that by the management. There’s no dictatorship, everybody is very unified and together. We work for each other and that’s a great place to be.”
