Former Minister for Sport Martin Cullen has had his say on the ongoing row over the Walsh Park development.

Cullen felt the need to have his say on the matter after Waterford chairman Paddy Joe Ryan and secretary Pat Flynn spoke on local radio about an incident which happened a number of years earlier when the idea of redeveloping the grounds was first mooted.

Ryan and Flynn told WLR listeners that plans were in place to redevelop the grounds, but when questioned by one caller about their failure to accept €25 million funding from the then Minister for Sport, they denied that figured was even mention.

However, Cullen had his own say on the same radio station and stated that it was problems within the Waterford County Board that saw the plans being shelved.

Cullen added that the fact Fraher Field was not going to benefit from the redevelopment work also played a part in it not going ahead.
