Long standing neighbours Dunhill and Butlerstown are on the verge of becoming the latest clubs to amalgamate.
In what is becoming more and more commonplace around the country, clubs are being forced to amalgamate due to a lack of numbers, which must be a concern for the GAA's hierarchy, although little seems to be done about the issue.
The Waterford News & Star reports that the two clubs have been in talks over the last number of weeks and an amalgamation looks the most likely outcome.
Both teams ply their trade in the Waterford IHC and met in last year's quarterfinal, which Dunhill won, but they have been joined together under the Clann na nGael banner at underage level for the last few years.
A decision on their future has to be made this week as club affiliations are due to be submitted to the Eastern board this week.
