NY Minors
Lostintime, you need to go and get your head seen to,if you think any N.Y. minor team can compete with its Irish counterparts your nuts.

NY Minors
West of Ireland beware, this panel of players available to New York is exremely talented. I have seen some of them recently on NY trips and if some of them were the players seen on recent Feile teams, they will be a dangerous team.

Summer football ????
Connemara Gaels are a great side and have had past players such as Declan Meehan, Sean Og De Paoir, Michael Hegarty, Joe Falon, Michael Magil, Paul Cunningham and many more County Senior players. If you google them you will get their contact details

NY senior board
Agree 100%. Why would you spend the time and effort to win a championship and finally get to Senior and then look to not get promoted. Complete nonsense they were let away with this. Why did they spend so much time and effort in winning Intermediate. Should have worked on getting a proper team together.

NY senior board
Rules are being broken left and right. Roscomman who won intermediate championship being allowed to stay in same division they won last year. They are crying poverty. Maybe they should think about getting a home based team... it might help. They should have been made go senior like everyone else has.

New York Player Rules
It is 15 a side and would be a more competitive championship then the rest of north america for sure..

and not all the players are american born, but all the players are irish american

New York Player Rules
jojo75- The deadline for Inter County transfers is July 20th. That is you must have been in the US for 28 days prior to that date in order to be eligible.

All of the players on the New York colleges team are American born.

New York Player Rules
thanks that answers my question. Seems like New york season is more like home time frame wise. Just read the NY College article. Great to see. How does a player qualify for New York coleges team?they all American born players?

New York Player Rules
Hey GPlifer,

You mentioned that for an inter county transfer you have to be living in the States for 28 days minimum but is there a deadline date to get an inetrcounty transfer?

jojo75 , 11/03/2010 at 14:25

New York Player Rules
In New York it is 15 a side with all clubs being allowed a maximum of 6 summer players ( 60 day sanctions ). I think New York is a better championship. In Boston, as in all North American Board cities their finals have to be played in August so as the North American finals can be played on Labor Day weekend. At that stage the New York championship is only getting going with the final not played until early October. Because of this there is a much greater emphasis on having a home based team as many of the Summer players have returned to Ireland. Having said that many players do transfer into New York on Inter County transfers. A player must be living here for 28 days before being eligible for this. However any player who gets a transfer like this cannot go back and play for his home club in the same year. Hope this answers your questions.

New York Player Rules
This may be a silly question but having played in both Boston and Chigaco I know that football is played 13 a side with at least 8 "home based" players lining out with the remainder being players out for the summer and who are not their on a permanent basis. What is the story in New York? does each club need so many home players? what date do they need to be in New york for? And is the general club standard as good in New York as it is in Boston?

GAA Team Bonding/Training weekends
An update on how some recent weekends went. Ahoghill Camogie Team had a great weekend in Downings in Donegal. Their pics can be
viewed at: http://www.breakforball.com/gallery/images/?id=11

The 3rd last photo in the set is a real clinker that really does the beauty of the place justice.

Here's what the manager of the team had to say about their weekend:

"A fabulous weekend in a stunning location. Who needs Spain when you have Donegal! Everything was so handy with the pitch and beach so close to the hotel. The sessions on and off the pitch with Emmett McKeever were top class and has really focused the squad for the months ahead. Following that the lads from Turf'n'Surf were great craic and the activites on and off the beach had everyone in great form. The day was finished off with a lovely group meal and some karaoke singing that went on into the wee hours. I think it has had the desired effect and there is a great buzz around the squad. Thanks again to Breakforball for organising an excellent package and Sinead who helped the day run smoothly onsite."

Mark Friel - Senior Team Manager, St. Mary's Camogie Club, Ahoghill
