Team news: New York name interesting XV

New York manager Justin O'Halloran has named his side to face Mayo in the Connacht SFC at Gaelic Park on Sunday.

The Exiles team is packed with intercounty experience, featuring exports from Down, Roscommon, Kildare, Galway, Westmeath, Armagh, Sligo and Mayo.

Matthew Queenan will wear the No.7 jersey against his home county, while New York are captained by former Down ace Niall Madine at full forward. Defenders Gerard McCartan and Paddy Boyle are also from the Mourne County.

Sligo export Vinny Cadden starts between the posts, with Roscommon’s Cathal Compton and Kildare’s Sean Hurley making their New York debuts at midfield. Centre back Michael Naughton is a Galway native, while Shane Hogan and Michael Creegan are the only two New York natives named to start.
