McMullan wants away tie

October 21, 2016

Robert Emmetts are London SHC champions for 2016.

Robert Emmetts manager Kevin McMullan has admitted he would prefer an 'away' tie for their All-Ireland club IHC quarterfinal.

The London champions defeated St Gabriel's in the SHC final last weekend and they will now face the Ulster club IHC winners on November 13th.

With Ruislip undergoing development work, Tir Chonaill Park, Greenford will be the venue for the clash, but first a Croke Park official will inspect the grounds to ensure it is up to standard.

However, McMullan will not be too disappointed if they are forced to play the game back home in Ireland.

"If it was up to me I'd go home," McMullan told the Irish Post. "The simple reason being that everyone's families live at home.

Here, you might have the odd brother or sister who comes over for the county final, but if we're at home you'd have so many turn out. I like to think we'd attract a bigger following away from home, which could be better for us."
