Intermediate Hurling Championship Final Preview:

On Sunday at 2:30pm, the club will take the field in Greenford in the intermediate hurling county final.
The club will face North West London neighbours Brothers Pearse for the London intermediate championship crown.

After a disappointing year in senior last year, Brothers Pearse were relegated to intermediate for the 2016 season. Brothers Pearse have been immensely impressive in this year's championship racking up some big scores along the way, owing largely to the fact they were able to keep hold of a majority of their senior squad. They have a wealth of talent, with some current and ex London county hurlers present in their ranks.
Brothers Pearse entered the 2016 championship as firm favourites for the title and their 28-point demolition of a very decent Thomas McCurtain's side in the semi-final has further enhanced expectation.

Last year Fr. Murphy's were well fancied for the intermediate crown but lost out to Fulham Irish in the championship semi-final by 4 points.
The Murphy's did manage to make 2015 All-Britain Championship Final vs Fullen Gaels. Extra time in the first game couldn't separate the sides with Fr. Murphy's coming back from a 7-point deficit to level in the second half of normal time. The reply saw two depleted squads battle it out again. It was Fullen Gaels turn to fight back this time and turn around a 2-point deficit in the final 5mins to win the replay by the smallest of margins. Two defeats that the club found very tough to take.

With the disappointment of 2015 behind them, the start of 2016 proved to be a difficult time for Fr Murphy's as a rebuilding process began. The club had lost some big name players to injuries, work commitments and some returning home. The club had slow start to the year on the field, not winning in their first four games. However, an influx of talented recruits allowed the club to start rebuilding slowly but surely. The team began to gel during championship and Murphy's would remain unbeaten in the group stages with some fine displays. The club overcame a spirited St. Declan's of Luton in the semi-final by 18-points to set up their clash with the fancied Brothers Pearse side.

On Sunday Fr. Murphy's know they are up against it but are relishing the prospect of their first county final for 11 years. All support welcome on the day. All supporters are welcome back to Jono's in Ealing Common after the game for food and drinks with the team, win lose or draw.
