Two Gaelic Football Coaching Courses

London GAA are running a Foundation Level Gaelic Football Coaching Course on Saturday, November 5th and a Level One Gaelic Football Coaching Course over 4 Saturdays on November 12th and 26th, December 3rd and 10th from 9am until 5pm with a half an hour Lunch Break at 1pm - lunch is provided. Both courses are held in Tir Chonaill Gaels GAA Grounds, Greenford. The Courses are limited to 25 people and in the interest of fairness, only accept 5 nominations from each Club. Theory based work and practical work involved on the Course so coaches should bring appropriate training gear/footwear. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so please contact CDA Lloyd Colfer on 078 72600073 ASAP if you are interested in attending. We would urge as many of you as possible to please take up this opportunity to further your coaching education which can only benefit your Club and London GAA.

 

Report on Saint Anthony's Blitz in Reading 17th September 2016 BY Bart Ballantine

On the eve of the All Ireland Saint Anthony's held their first ever underage blitz.

There was a great turnout on the day with the U10 teams present from  Tara, Tirchonaill Gaels, Parnells, Round Towers and Saint Anthony's.

Round Towers and Saint Anthony's  played each other in an U8 game.

Thankfully the rain held off and the idyllic setting along the River Thames provided a backdrop to a great exhibition of underage football and sportsmanship, the teams performed in an exemplary manner and were a great credit to their clubs.

Saint Anthony's would like to thank everyone who helped to make it such a successful day, special thanks to Brendan Gallagher and Tara's who provided the U8 goals.

We hope this will the first of many and we look forward to welcoming teams back next year.

 

Report for U-14 Conrad Ryan Football Tournament by Danny Twomey 

With the summer break now behind us it was back to business for Parnells U14s with the prestigious Conrad Ryan cup being the prize. St. Kiernan's who won this trophy last year were again the opposition and a competitive contest was on the cards. Weather conditions were favorable as referee Colin Corrigan launched the throw in. The match itself was played in great spirit by both teams with nothing gained easily. Michael English, Jack Hannon, Paddy Ryan, Aiden McEvoy and Joseph Spain were all outstanding for St. Kiernans and all showed fantastic skills and intensity throughout. In contrast to last year though this day belonged to Parnells. It was a game where all of the men in blue delivered, at times some wonderful football. Goal keeper Jack Curd marshalled the full back line of Ben Brown, James Philips and Cormac O'Brien who in turn all gave miserly performances to the opposition forwards. Jojo Thabu at centre back was tigerish to every ball with Darragh Griffin giving a good impression of his hero 'Thomas O'Shea' at wing back. Unfortunately Beanon Corrigan had to retire with a finger injury in the first half but was his usual accomplished self up until the injury. Niall Twomey and Owen Reilly at midfield were both impeccable. Strong in the physical exchanges and skillful with ball in hand. Niall Bradshaw on the "forty" was in fine form and his wing men Liam Lavery and Patrick Murphy were excellent throughout. Sam Langan in a new role at full forward was a handful for his direct opponent whilst Ronan Hutchens gave a brilliant display at both Corner forward and corner back. Seamus and Shane Currie both excelled when called upon with Daniel Mullen really maturing into a fine footballer. The saying is that goals win games and so is the case. Parnells with a succession of goals and singles from a variety of players secured the coveted silverware. It must be said though that St. Kiernans are a credit to themselves and to this competition and the sharing of the spoils over the past few years is of no surprise to anyone involved in London GAA circles. Congratulations to both teams on their fine displays. The future is indeed Bright.

Gael Londain 1st ever Football Blitz for U6/8/10/12/14's teams in Hazelwood, TW16 6QU.

Registration will commence at 10.15am and throw in for all Games all ages at 11am.

There is parking for 400 cars on site, Food will be served through out the day in the club house.

Dressing rooms are available. The All Ireland Football match will be screened and live Music will be provide in the Bar.
