Tir Chonaill Gaels Notes

August 15, 2016

Seniors

The Seniors started the defence of the championship after drawing with the Round Towers at Greenford on Sunday evening. The Towers started off the brighter of the two teams but the Gaels soon got going with some fine football from Adrian Hanlon and Liam Gavaghan. Midfield master Gary Kane rolled back the years and helped set up the first of two Gavaghan goals which brought his personal tally for the first half to 2-04. The Towers scored another couple of points before the half ended with the Gaels going into the break 2-06 to 0-06 up. The Gaels started off the second half well and peach of a point from Killian Butler soon followed but it proved to be the last score from TCG. The Towers dominated the scoring from there on in, and despite the sending off of Hanlon the Gaels the game ended in a draw Tir Chonaill Gaels 2-07 to Round Towers 0-13.

The Juniors are due to be in action again next Saturday, 20th August at Greenford at 5pm against Crawley & Brighton Gaels in the next round of the Championship. The league game due to be played against Eire Og at the weekend was postponed.
