A 400-mile charity cycle taking in three countries will be staged later this month in memory of a hurler who collapsed and died while training with his club four years ago.

'Cathal Cycle 2016' will see friends and family of Cathal Forde pedal from the Kilburn Gaels GAA grounds in London to his home town of Gort, Co. Galway between July 28 and July 31. Cathal was just 28 when he passed away while training with the Gaels in April 2012.

Cathal passed away in 2012.

The first leg of the cycle is a 101-mile trek from Highgate to Stratford-Upon-Avon. Day two will see the group cycle 110 miles to Crowen in Wales, followed by a 70-mile journey to Holyhead on the third day. The fourth and final leg of the trip will be from Dublin to Gort, which is a distance of 115 miles.

Proceeds from the cycle will go to the Cormac McAnallen Trust and the MS Ireland.
