Tara Blitz 11 June 2016
Parnells Under 10s were able to field one team comprising Emer Morrissey, Matthew Cox, Ronan Carolan, Killian Griffin, Sean Buckley, Aidan Gallagher, Darragh Egan, Madi Cox and Oliver Coupland at the Tara Blitz held at Harrow Rugby Club on Saturday 11th June 2016.
Unfortunately we had a couple of our older players pull out at the last minute leaving us with a very inexperienced team with only one of the team having competed at Under 10 level last year and we also welcomed two new players who experienced their first blitz.
However, despite being included in a group containing "A-Teams" of all the other clubs and in consideration of their relative inexperience at this level the team showed they were able to compete and compete they did throughout the afternoon. Whilst being up against it at times the team showed great camaraderie managing to create a number of scoring chances and converting some of them.
The two newbies Matthew and Madi equipped themselves well for their first ever blitz. Killian showed his strength and experience winning most of his battles and Aidan demonstrated how his defensive skills have come on making a great block. Oliver and Emer put in good tackles at key stages robbing the opposition of the ball and Sean and Ronan were reliable as always constantly at the opposition using the ball well when the opportunities arose. However special mention must go to Darragh Egan who shone throughout the day being the real star man of our team.
Finally, thanks to Tara GFC for a great blitz.
