Parnells Club notes

Match Reports

Parnells entered 2 U12 teams at the recent blitz hosted by North London Shamrocks on 18th April. Both teams played 3 games each against St. Kiernans, NLS and TCG. It was great to finally dust off the cobwebs and compete in a match environment. Great effort, commitment and skill was evident on the day by all of the players. All matches were played with lots of energy and desire with some great scores on display. We were represented well by all of our players with special mention to 2 of our youngest U12s, Gearóid Moore and Patrick O'Brien who played very well and without fear, and also to Joseph O'Connor who stepped in from our U10s and looked very assured.

Thank you to all those who assisted with the travel arrangements and special thanks to NLS for their generosity and also for ensuring the day ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all.

U16 League: Parnells 8-15 TCG 0-7

Parnell's get of to a flying start
On a beautiful sunny evening in Greenford, Parnells got of to a winning start in the first round of the U16 League. This was a good all round performance by Parnell's against a very gallant TCG side that competed right up to the final whistle.
Parnells started well winning most of the battles around midfield, producing some fantastic passages of play and kicking some very good scores in the process. The forwards were continually hungry for the ball and in most cases took the opportunities they were given. However there is also work to be done as wayward shooting contributed to a high number of wides in the first half. Half time score was 3-8 to 0-3.
The second half continued how the first started with Parnells winning most of the battles and continuing to rack up the scores. All of the team played well from Ricardo Esteves in goals who never looked likely to be beaten, Harry Logan and Matthew Forkin in the fullback line who were solid all through the game, half backs Stephen Lally, Neil McNamara and Daniel Maguire who got the fine balance between defending and attacking exactly right, Ciaran O Donoghue and Joshua Obahor who lorded the centre of the field, half forwards Kieran Rice, Andrew Gilroy and Adam McCarthy whose link up play and score taking, impressive in this their first outing of the season and full forward line Conall White and Darragh Curran who worked well together and created mayhem in the TCG defence, Curran ending up with a personal tally of 3-5.
Overall a good performance for the first outing but some work to be done to improve on certain aspects of their performance.
