Glen Rovers Watford UK news

February 19, 2015

Seniors
The senior men head to the prestigious Paídi Ó Sé tournament which takes place in Dingle, County Kerry this weekend. This is the third year in a row Glen Rovers have been invited back and are very proud of our growing connection with Dingle.

We have been drawn in Group B with local team Castlegregory and familar face of Londons Tara. Castlegregory won the Junior All Ireland in 2010 so we will have to be at our best. Taras have a familiar face incharge in the way of Vinney O'Sullivan so we know they will be well prepared.

Dingle is a fantastic village and we look forward to this trip every year and we would like to thank all club officials who make this possible and players who fund the trip themselves.

New Season
The Hertfordshire County season starts on the 29th March in Cotlandswick Saint Albans. This will be the annual Blitz for the Fr. O'Hanlon Cup which is up for grabs. Registration takes place at 12.00pm and with the opening fixture kicking off at 12.30pm.
Then on April 11th the new league season kicks off with a repeat of last seasons County Final versus Eire Og Oxford. The game will be in Horspath Park Oxford.

Mini Rovers

Another weekend another exhibition, this time their skills were on show at half time during a charity football fun day in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital. Bernadette Wrenn & family were the organiser's and did a fantastic job in bringing people together through sport to raise money for the charity. The family fun day event even boasted some ex Arsenal players who dusted off their old boots to take part in the event. There was a great turnout by our Mini Rovers. A big thank you to Barry Wrenn, Deborah Kelly and Bernadette Wrenn for organising and allowing us to participate in the Funday. This was a worthwhile cause and we were delighted to be part of it. Well done to Glen Rovers mentors Gavin O'Connor, Andy Carey and Finbar Fitzpatrick.
