Wexford hurler Andrew Shore is facing a 48-week ban for allegedly playing illegally in the UK.

The Model County wing back has had the ban proposed by Warwickshire County Board, who are of the opinion that he togged out in a tournament game without securing a proper transfer.

Should the suspension stand then Shore - who plays both codes for Parnells in Dublin - would be banned from all club and county activities for the guts of a year.

An intercounty transfer must be completed by any home-based player who wishes to play in Britain - even if only in a one-off tournament. Shore believed all the necessary paperwork was in place but Warwickshire County Board has ruled otherwise.

The ban was recommended at a meeting over the weekend and Wexford County Board are currently awaiting official notification before deciding on their best course of action.
