Tir Chonaill Gaels club notes

October 20, 2014

Seniors:
Our senior team booked their place in the Conway cup final last weekend after defeating KKG by a scoreline of 4-15 to 1-5:
They will now play Round Towers and attempt to do the clean sweep of winning all available domestic trophies last done in 2007.

Reserves:
Well done to our reserve team who completed the championship/league double in the past few weekends beating Fulham Irish and St Kiernans respectively.
The usual talk of retirements has yet again been mentioned but we will wait until the new season arrives to see who hobbles in. Well done to manager Michael Mullan who seems to be more effective on the sideline.

Juniors:
The club would like to thank manager Ricky Williamson who has stepped down from his post after three years of hard work and commitment. Ricky has matured the young guns to the fine team they are today and we wish him well on his gardening leave.

Minors:
Hard luck to our minor team who unfortunately came out the wrong end of a 3-5 to 1-8 defeat to Parnells  last Sunday in the championship final at Ruislip.

Ladies:
So near but not to be as our ladies team bowed out of the junior championship after a very late goal ended our hopes in the semi final against St Anthony's. TCG 2-10 St Anthony's 3-8
Well done to all involved especially the management team of Conor Connelly and Shaun Campbell, our money's on you next year girls.

Kevin Downes:
Congratulations to club member Kevin Downes who has been appointed trainer/selector with the Cavan football team for the coming season.
Kevin has been involved with the club for a number of years and has been a great servant as a player and trainer, he will also be a huge loss to the London football team under Paul Coggins.
We wish him well on his new adventure.

Condolences:
The club received the sad news last week of the passing by of Brid Carr, wife of club stalwart Seamus who lost her long battle with illness. Brid had been a familiar face around the club for over 30 years and was a great support to Seamus in his roles within the club and to London county board. The club offer our sincere condolences to Seamus and children Christina, Anna and Tom. May she rest in peace.
We also pass on our sympathy to former members, Gary Murray who lost his mother in Co Galway and to Denis O' Leary who sadly lost his wife Ann recently. May they rest in peace.
