Parnell Youth Club notes

July 21, 2014
Parnells youth have had a very busy few weeks and what a few weeks it was.

Last weeks ABC was a fantastic event for us with 4 pieces of silverware being brought home.

The under 8 and 10 teams started the ball rolling on Friday with many games which put them through their paces. Their participation in the record breaking attempt helped to seal the deal and the boys and girls involved enjoyed it immensely.

Saturday was the turn of the under 12s and 16s and is a day that will be remembered for many years. The under 12s fielded 2 teams and were very proactive in their participation. Team one were going all out having previously won the under 12 league and the Conrad Ryan tournament. Thankfully they didn't disappoint with a spectacular display of football which provide a real insight in to the talent that these boys have to offer. Playing tough games they were destined to need local rivals Tara's in the final, two fantastic teams competing against each other but unitedly demonstrating what a bright future london football had to look forward to. Parnels worked hard together and in a hard battle came out in top as ABC winners.

The under 16s together with their manager Gerry Curran equally put up an fight and managed to secure a place in the final, unfortunately a strong Clarets side were a force to be reckoned with the Parnells boys walked away defeated but proud of their hard work and effort. Well done to the Clarets.

Sunday was the day for the girls, under 14s and 18s,.

spurred on by the under 12s win the day previously the 14s hit the ground running. Two teams participated with 2 victories brough home with both the cup and the shield being added to the trophy cabinet. Again in both finales we faced local rivals the Clarets and St Kiernans, a proud day for london football as looking at the standard of football played amongst all participating teams there is a lot to look forward to.

The girls didn't disappoint and together with Liam Moffatt and John Lynch they showed their worth, this is a new team that has recently been formed but this didn't hinder them. Supurb football, excellent attitude and fantastic spirt is the clearly the recipe to succes as they took the title of ABC winners 2014.

The under 18s under manager Dennis Diggins also participated. competition was tough but our boys battled well however unfortunately Lady Luck wasn't smiling on them and defeat was in the Horizone this time.

Excellent completion, well run, well organised and very much enjoyed. Well done to all involved, a job well done.

Well done to the under 18 county team who won against Lancashire on Saturday, their trike of provincial champions serves them well. Well done to the Parnells representivires Alan Callanan, Ciaran o Donoghue Mikey Maher and Ruairi O Connor.

Please note that under 6,8,10 trading has now ceased for the summer. The other age groups will continue as per normal.
