Dunleavy hails Gottsche impact

London forward Damien Dunleavy has hailed the impact that Mark Gottsche made when introduced.

Dunleavy himself contributed 1-05 during the defeat to Limerick in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers, but he felt that the introduction of the former Galway footballer almost hauled back the Shannonsiders.

Gottsche was unable to start the match through injury, but was introduced midway through the first half as Limerick held a comfortable lead.

Dunleavy told the Irish Post that Gottsche lifted all the players around him when he did come on.

"Ah it definitely did, Gottsche is a fine player. When he came on he didn't shirk the task. He took the game to them," said Dunleavy.

"To be honest he gave everybody a lift on the field. We seemed to kick on, we didn't take a backward step from then on, but we couldn't close out the game when we did go ahead."
