London call for rule change

London could field a junior side comprising of British born GAA players.
London have requested that they be allowed travel to Ireland for games in preparation for the championship.

The Exiles were denied that situation earlier in the month as GAA rules state that bans counties from going on training weeks in the run up to the championship.

This basically means counties are not allowed travel abroad for training camps in the weeks leading up to the championship.

London had requested to playing two challenge matches in Ireland a fortnight ago, but they were stopped by Croke Park chiefs.

In a ridiculous situation, the exiles were told that they were not allowed to travel 'home' and London football manager Paul Coggins has called for a change to the ruling to make them exempt.

"All we tried to do was to go home and play a couple of challenge matches," Coggins told the Irish Post.

"At the end of the day we are the exiles; the 32nd county and on certain issues there needs to be deviation. It's up to our clubs and our hierarchy to look at it."
