London SHC: McMullan focused on the 'now'

McGovern Park will host this Sunday's London SHC final

Revenge is something that Robert Emmetts could use to drive them on in the London SHC final against St Gabriels, but their manager Kevin McMullan insists that is not the case.

Last year, St Gabriel’s won their first London title since 2013 when they defeated Robert Emmetts in the final, but the latter have the opportunity to gain a degree of revenge this weekend.

However, the ‘revenge’ word is not been spoken about in the Emmetts dressingroom as they prepare for the clash at Ruislip on Sunday afternoon.

“Hand on heart, talk of revenge or anything similar to that is not part of our thinking,” stressed McMullan. “It’s a different game, different players on both sides and for us it’s just another chance to win a county final in London.

“We can’t devote too much time trying to second guess what they might do. Last year, we looked at trying to stop Shane Lawless, but he got the goal when it mattered and we had no answers for him.”
