Conor Gormley

(Oldest Posts First)

Conor has easily been our 2nd best player of the year behind Sean, he was our best player against Donegal and without him i think we might as well save the 30 odd quid if he is suspended.

Since when did the GAA start giving out match bans, as far as I've known the game it has always been weeks and month bans? is this a new thing or is this only for Conor Gormley? if it was a 1 match ban would it not have been for his club over the past weekend against Dromore? or did they intentionally wait 9/10 days after the Tyrone and club games to ensure that it would be the Mayo game he missed... looks a bit dodgey to me

Any club games involving carmen this coming weekend? Just a thought. Maybe county board should arrange a quick round of games, and block could sit one out. Odd that it's 10 days after the 1/4 final and just after a round of club games.

unfortunately club games don't count towards the 1 game ban
still think he'll get it rescinded

Glad to see sense prevail in the end. A good bonus for Tyrone and I'm sure mayo fans would rather play a full strength Tyrone. Looking forward to a clinker of a game lads! Tyrone abu!

Just wondering lads, if some Tyrone posters saw the banning of Gormley (whose clearance to play I welcome, btw) as a huge extra motivating factor for the game against ourselves, will this motivation not now evaporate as the siege mentality lifts?

Yeah, and it would have been great if we'd lost Sean Cavanagh as well. And SON. And Clarke. And both Donnellys. And all our best players. Because then we'd have been super motivated.

Seriously man, I know it's a genuine question, but it is also a daft one. It's an AI semi final, and Tyrone will be just as motivated today as they were yesterday, except now we have the bonus of having our most important defender available.

Of course it's a daft question Thomas, as daft as the insistence that his absence would provide any extra motivation... I agree 100%, the players could not be any more motivated with a place in the AI final at stake.

Pleased for Conor that he is able to play. Its all to play for and Tyrone v Mayo to me is a 50/50 game. Tyrone have cut their teeth on winning four games by two points while you just wonder what will happen when Mayo get involved in a tight semi-final. To be fair to Mayo its not their fault they have not been tested so far but nevertheless it could be an issue.
