Omagh forward Connor O'Donnell believes that they will benefit greatly from the fact that now the two McMahon brothers have retired from inter-county football.

Last week, Justin McMahon announced his decision to retire from inter-county football, joining his brother Joe who ended his long distinguished career in the Tyrone jersey last year.

They can now focus fully on lining out for their club Omagh and O'Donnell told the Ulster Herald that the club were already benefiting from having two such experienced players with them full time.

"Joey being about week on week this year has been great for us, the leadership and quality he brings to the mix," said O'Donnell. "He helps organise things on the pitch and brings that touch of composure as well.

"He is such a presence to have about at training and now hopefully that will be the case with Justy as well.

"We would have loved to have had more of them at the club over recent years but obviously because of their Tyrone commitments that wasn't the case, but it's a big boost going forward hopefully over the next year or so to have them about full time."

Omagh play Ardboe in the opening round of the Tyrone senior football championship this weekend.
