Tyrone manager Mattie Lennon celebrates at the final whistle of the 2014 Rackard Cup final

Mattie Lennon is set to return for a second stint as Tyrone senior hurling manager, BBC Northern Ireland reports.

The Armagh native is expected to be ratified by the Tyrone county board - just one year after stepping down from the post.

Two managers and an interim boss have taken charge of the team in that time, with Antrim's Dominic Kearns having vacated his post a few weeks in and Waterford man Kevin Ryan taking the job at short notice.

John Devlin took over from Ryan on a temporary basis following the Red Hands retaining their NHL Division 3A and Nicky Rackard Cup status and now it seems Lennon is set to reassume the hot seat.

During his two-year tenure, the Derrynoose clubman guided the O'Neill County's hurlers to a first Nicky Rackard Cup title and also secured back-to-back league promotions.
