Sean Cavanagh is in a race against time to be fit for Tyrone's Round Two NFL clash with Galway this weekend.

The talismanic former Footballer of the Year sat out Sunday's battling victory over Cavan and manager Mickey Harte says he's doubtful for the Division Two trip to Salthill in five days:

"This week will tell the tale. He's still getting work done on the calf muscle injury that he has and it's got to be right before we use him," Harte told The Irish News.

"It's not right at the moment, so we'll see how it progresses this week. If it needs the break after this week then we'll make that decision towards the end of the week."
