Scotstown (Monaghan) 2-9

Trillick (Tyrone) 2-7

Scotstown are through to their first Ulster club football final since 1989 after edging out a wasteful Trillick team at Brewster Park.

Mattie McGleenan's charges will face Crossmaglen in the November 29 decider after Darren Hughes netted in either half to give the Monaghan champions a narrow win. Daniel McDonnell raised a green flag for Trillick at the start of the second quarter, but Hughes hit back to leave the winners perched on a slender 1-5 to 1-4 lead at the interval.

Hughes hit an unanswered 1-1 at the start of the second half to extend Scotstown's advantage, but they were left hanging on after Niall Gormley pulled a goal back for the Tyrone kingpins.

McDonnell's 17th minute goal was cancelled out by a fisted effort from Hughes three minutes later. Eoin Gormley responded with two points for Trillick, but a Shane Carey point in injury-time gave Scotstown the edge at half-time.

Hughes grabbed his second major following the restart after Trillick goalkeeper Joe Maguire could only parry Conor McCarthy's initial shot. But the Tyrone men were back in it within 60 seconds when Niall Gormley fired to the corner of Rory Beggan's net.

Daire Gallagher then left the minimum between the sides before Scotstown moved three clear again thanks to Orin Heaphey. Back came Trillick with points from Richie Donnelly and Niall Gormley, but they failed to score in the closing 20 minutes as county 'keeper Beggan sealed Scotstown's victory from a long-range free in added time.
